What a guy. The ladies liked him for his good looks, the men liked him because he was a guy’s guy. Hud, Fast Eddie Felson, Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy… wow! The old cliche, “they don’t make ‘em like that any more” never rang more true. Actors like Newman are becoming rare these days. I knew this day was coming. I had heard he was sick and only had a while to live. I grew up at the movies, back in the days of double features, single screens, giant auditoriums… Many, or most… no – all of my favorite actors are old school. We all hoped for one more great Newman/Redford film. That was probably too much to hope for.
